WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO: Business and Professional Women of Niagara: Women Working for Women BPW is part of an international women’s advocacy organization that works towards the improvement of economic, educational, employment and social conditions affecting women. BPW Niagara is the community level of this organization, and works with BPW ONTARIO, which, in turn works with BPW Canada and that leads to BPW International. There are so many clubs around the world, all advocating for all women. BPW has a strong presence in the United Nations. Business and Professional Women of Niagara has members from all over the Niagara Region- Niagara Falls, Niagara on the Lake, St Catharines, Port Colborne, Welland, and even Cambridge. We work together to help women here in the Region in so many ways such as hosting fund raisers. In May of 2023, BPW hosted a Designer Bag bingo. It was sold out and we were able to donate $10,000.00 to Community Crew who supplies lunches to over 1900 hungry children in one week. Through other fund raisers, BPW has donated to the Lions Club to purchase and train a seeing eye dog, donated $$ to the Shaver Hospital to purchase voice amplifiers for those who have ALS or had strokes, donated money to the Mental Health Foundation and raised funds to help the local homeless. We donated feminine hygienic supplies to the Food Bank & Project Share, donated funds and items for the indigenous homeless shelter, donated funds to Wells for Water and Red Roof Retreat for children with disabilities and many more. We create resolutions that are submitted to the appropriate ministers for changes in the laws to improve situations such as seniors in poverty, human trafficking & equality for women. All women who want to make a difference are welcome to join us as well work, supporting other women. You CAN make a difference!
