Community Care’s Fall Food Drive- Grape & Wine Grande Parade!
For immediate release
When: Saturday, September 24
Where: On the route of the Grande Parade in Downtown St. Catharines
In keeping with a long-standing Grande Parade tradition, Community Care, St. Catharines & Thorold in partnership with St. Catharines Transit and the students of Governor Simcoe Secondary School, will be collecting non-perishable food items along the Grande Parade route on Saturday, September 24th, in downtown St. Catharines.
Due to the ever-increasing demand on our services and the escalating number of people in need of food security, we need the community more than ever. There are a couple of ways people can help!
This year we are asking the public to fill any bag with non-perishable food items and bring it to the parade for collection.
The St. Catharines Firefighters will also be collecting monetary donations with their “Give Hunger the Boot” campaign. Some of our food bank’s most needed items include; canned vegetables, canned fruit, soup, baked beans, and canned meats (beef, ham, poultry).
If you aren’t planning on heading to the parade, non-perishable food items can also be dropped off at participating grocery stores or to Community Care directly; 12 North St., St. Catharines or 19 Albert St. W, Thorold.
